Self-Reflection and Family Time

After a few weeks of craziness with tons of blogging, I’ve taken a few days off to enjoy some time with my family. It’s felt a little strange because I’ve become used to a hectic blogging schedule, but it was good to take a break. I’ve been spending time with my kids, baking Christmas cookies, sending out Christmas cards, and finishing up the shopping. It’s been great. I have a bunch of recipes to share with you all too!

I absolutely love my blog and I am so thankful for all of you wonderful readers. It’s because of you all that I’m able to do these great product reviews and giveaways! I love this and plan to keep on doing it. However I’m going to slow down because I simply can’t keep up on the pace I’ve been.

I’m not the next Simply Stacie. Or Dear Crissy. They are both fabulous bloggers that I love and have aspired to be like them. But I’m not.
I’m Erika. I’m wife to a wonderful man. I’m a stay at home mom to 4 kids ages 8 and under. I homeschool my children. I’m a daughter/sister/friend. I’m someone who loves her church and community and wants to be more involved.

One of my downfalls is that I compare myself to others too much. And that’s something I’ve been trying to work on. Because God made me me. It’s one thing to try to improve myself, but it’s another to hold myself to an impossible standard, which I do far too often.

I’m trying to keep perspective and priorities straight. So I will continue blogging and I will continue doing giveaways. But I won’t be doing quite as many.

I hope you’ll stick around and continue on this journey with me as I know it will still be a lot of fun!

My sweet children – I love them so much! :

  5. I get it. I love my blog, and lately it has begun to take off. However, I know I’m never going to be a HUGE one. So, I should be really happy with where I’mat and remember that as a Mom Blogger, my primary role is that of mom!

  6. Good for you for taking a break and slowing down! The entire past year for me has been so busy blog-wise, and I am actually going to be taking a break from it all after I wrap up my last few commitments this weekend. I have a full time job, and my blog has become a second job to me and I am exhausted. I have been averaging 4 hours of sleep a night for the last year, and I just can’t do it any longer. I am going to continue to blog, but I’m done with reviews and giveaways. I am going to miss it, I know, but I want my life back! I’m sure without the giveaways my blog will most likely die, and if it does, that’s OK. It was fun while it lasted.

Merry Christmas! I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

    • LeeAnne, gosh I don’t know how you’ve done it! I could not survive on 4 hours of sleep.
Its so hard isn’t it? The reviews and giveaways can be fun but then we have to remember that our time is money too and if we’re spending 2 hours taking photos, editing them, and writing a review on a $10 product and then doing how many hours more of promoting the giveaway, is it really worth it?

Thanks so much and you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year too! :)

I tend to compare myself to others and to go at a pace that is much too quick for me, too. I’m glad to hear you are going to take care of your needs. We’ll all be here to read whenever you post!
