MyClyns Germ Protection Spray Review
April 5, 2011 by 1 Comment
We are just coming off cold & flu season, yet we all know those germs are still lurking to get one last sick bug in, right? I have 4 children and the last thing I want is for all of us to get sick again. When one child gets sick, it often goes through the whole family. And as mom, I really can’t afford to get sick.
I have never been much of a germaphobe, but with a young baby, I am much more cautious. Especially with our bout with the flu and Luke’s short hospital visit back in February. This winter, I have kept a bottle of hand sanitizer in each diaper bag, one in the car, and one near the door. But I often hesitate to use it because of the chemicals and the alcohol content. Especially with my 21 month old – yet he is the one who probably needs it the most because he touches everything.
When I was presented with the opportunity to review MyClyns Personal Spray, I jumped at the chance. MyClyns is the first and only product available for germ protection that will not sting or burn – even in the eyes, nose, and mouth! It is non-toxic and also the only non-alcohol option, so you can safely use it with young children. The solution in MyClyns contains a pH neutral, non-irritating solution of compounds that are similar to the chemicals produced by the human body in its defense against microorganisms. Therefore the solution is not harmful to human cells, only microorganisms.
The timing of my receiving the MyClyns package couldn’t have been better as my 21 month old had just thrown up all over. After I comforted him, I sprayed my face with the MyClyns. The spray was a very fine gentle mist that really didn’t smell at all. It certainly didn’t have the harsh alcohol scent that most sanitizers possess. I sprayed Nathan & Emily with it too and they thought it was funny & begged me to spray them again. Germ protection that they enjoy? Now that is something I can get into. Independent laboratory tests show that the solution in MyClyns Personal Spray demonstrates a 99.99% reduction in over 60 potentially dangerous pathogens. That’s pretty impressive and I hoped it would help protect me against whatever stomach bug my little one possibly had.
Whether Joshua had just eaten something funny or whether he had a virus (he did have a low fever so chances are it was a virus), he recovered within 36 hours. I used the MyClyns spray myself & with Nathan & Emily over the course of Joshua’s illness and no one else got sick. Did MyClyns protect us? I’m definitely intrigued.
Another great advantage of this product is that it’s perfect for use on cuts & scrapes, etc. Now that the weather is warming up, my children are outside playing a lot and doing things that make them more prone to injuries – riding their scooters, bikes, running races with friends, etc. Nathan & Emily both came in with scrapes/cuts this weekend and MyClyns came to the rescue for pain free germ protection.
MyClyns is easy to use and comes in a compact pen-shaped device with a clip that makes it convenient to carry in your purse or even in a pocket. When an exposure has occurred, response time is critical to lower your chance of becoming infected. MyClyns is a proven product that has been used for years and trusted by police, firefighters, EMS, and healthcare workers to help protect them immediately after possible exposure to germs. Now it is the first product of its kind available to consumers. It’s proven and tested, contains a 510(k) medical device solution cleared by the FDA.
One more advantage that MyClyns has over other germ sanitizers, is that it’s designed to be used after an exposure – such as when someone near you sneezes or you are in a contained area (plane, subway, etc.) where there are many potential pathogens.
MyClyns contains an average of 60 sprays per unit. You can purchase MyClyns at CVS and other national stores for a suggested retail price of $7.99-$9.99.
Overall, I was impressed with MyClyns. I haven’t used it enough to be 100% sold on its effectiveness but I definitely see it coming in handy as we finish out cold & flu season and also as we head into the summer cuts & scrapes season.
