Today I finally caught up on my coupon spreadsheets – where I keep track of how much I save/spend, etc.
In the past 6 weeks, I’ve bought $1,173.15 worth of groceries from Shaw’s and paid a grand total of $162.82. Over a thousand dollars of groceries for less than $200.
This past week alone, I’ve bought over $550 in groceries and spent $45 out of pocket. But I earned $60+ in catalinas that I can use as cash next week, so I got all of that for a profit!
My Walgreens numbers for the past month:
Out of pocket total: $35
Final cost: $3.71 for $570 worth of stuff.
It’s nice to see those numbers after the crazy week I’ve had! I am sooo tired after all the planning and many trips I’ve had to make (along with a couple of headache cashiers) but it was well worth it. As Nate says, it really is almost like a part time job – this insane couponing. Regular couponing where you clip a couple coupons for one shopping trip is one thing, but ordering coupons ahead of time, matching up deals, planning lists and then finding the time to actually make it happen at the store – when you have 3 young children – is a little trickier! But again, well worth it as you can see from the numbers above.
I’ve had many people ask me how I do it lately. One of these days, I will write a post about couponing, but I don’t have the time now, so I’ll send you here: http://www.afullcup.com/forums/
Check out the forum for a store you visit and see what deals and coupon match’ups can be found.
As I always like to say, once you start, it’s hard to stop! The savings is truly addicting.
I’ve been doing heavy-duty couponing for 6+ years now and I’m still learning new things all the time!
